Belize enjoys a sub-tropical climate with significant changes in weather patterns in different parts of the region. Temperatures vary as per elevation, closeness to the coastal areas and also northeastern trade winds. The average temperature of Belize varies between 24 °C to 27 °C. The region receives an average rainfall of 1,350 mm (53.1 in) in the northern sides to over 4,500 mm (177.2 in) in the southern regions.
Mild humidity is the main characteristic of the weather in this region, making the region comfortable and very pleasant for the residents. The region witnesses seasonal differences in the rainfall received – the southern parts of Belize experience a shorter dry season which lasts from February to April. The central and northern regions of Belize have the major differences in rainfall. The 'little dry' season which is shorter normally occurs from July to August. The southern plateau region is slighter cooler than the higher inlands throughout the year, making the stay very comfortable in the region.
